Presently rural irrigation depends on the natural resources and experience of skilled farmers. There is frequent electric supply failure and rectification of the same takes weeks together in rural areas which adversely affects the irrigation and farmers may have to adopt for other sources of electricity and it is costlytoo. Presently there is no efficient and controlled utilization of water or fertilizer. There is also scarcity of labour. The proposed SOLAR IRRIGATION system will provide a solution to the entire farmer community which is low cost system and also will reduce the production cost and increase the quality & profit. The project Solar Irrigation is basically an automated irrigation system with electronic controls and monitoring that uses solar energy for its working. Our venture is an attempt to enhance India to develop its agricultural sector empowered with technology. This opens up opportunities for the educated section of India to contribute to the field of agriculture.
Its main parts are
1) Solar tracker The solar tracker will keep tracking the sun and rotates the solar panel according to the position of the sun.
2) Automatic irrigation:
Automatic irrigation is done with the help of 4 sensors and solenoid valves. The data given by the sensors are interpreted by microcontroller, and it turn on both the mixer and motor according to the need of soil. The water-fertilizer composition is determined by microcontroller as it is programmed.
FEATURES
Solar Tracker:
The solar tracker will keep tracking the sun and rotates the solar panel according to the position of the sun.
• It uses 3 different LDR to detect the sun position A geared DC motor is use to rotate the solar array. The solar energy will increase by 75%
Automatic Irrigation:
• Selection of different type of field or irrigation
• Multi-field Control
• Automatic fertilization
• Battery powered
• Time based control
• Remote monitoring
• RTC control system
• Manual mode of control
• All record can be messaged to the owner using GSM
ADVANTAGES AND APPLICATIONS
• Fully automatic and work without any interruption.
• Efficiency of field and plant increases, since it has got nourishing whenever it needed
• No external power supply is needed since it uses solar energy for its working as well as for charging the battery.
• Attention needed is less and also time and labour needed for irrigation can reduced effectively
• Fertilizers are pumped directly to the field
• It can monitor the field condition (temperature, moisture. etc) continuously, which is not possible.
• It can be used with different crops by changing the temperature moisture ranges in the program according to the crop
• It can be used in the fields where daily inspection is not possible.
• It is well suited for places where there is a deficiency for labours
